Reflexology is the treatment most of our clients try first, and the one they most often add to something else. You stay fully clothed and reclined in a chair, which makes it an easy introduction if you have never booked a spa treatment before.
Reflexology or a foot massage — which am I booking?
A foot massage kneads and rubs the whole foot for general comfort. Reflexology works to a traditional map, applying held pressure to specific points in sequence. The technique is more deliberate, the pressure is firmer, and it moves methodically rather than freely.
Both feel good. Reflexology is the more structured of the two.
What does it feel like?
Firm and specific. Certain points can feel unexpectedly tender, particularly across the arch and under the ball of the foot, and that tenderness usually eases within a few seconds of sustained pressure. Most people find the sensation deeply relaxing once they settle into it — a good number of our clients fall asleep.
How long should I book?
Forty minutes covers both feet properly and is our most popular length. Sixty minutes allows a slower pace with more time on the ankles and lower calves. It also combines well with other treatments — an hour of reflexology with thirty minutes of body massage is one of our most-booked combinations.
Common questions
Do I need to take my clothes off?
No. You remove only your shoes and socks and stay fully clothed, reclined in a chair.
Does reflexology treat medical conditions?
We offer reflexology as a relaxation treatment within the tradition it comes from. We do not claim it treats, cures or diagnoses any condition, and you should continue to follow your doctor’s advice on any health matter.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
We offer a dedicated pre-natal reflexology treatment after the first trimester, which avoids the points traditionally left alone during pregnancy. Please check with your midwife or doctor before booking.
What if my feet are ticklish?
Reflexology uses firm, sustained pressure rather than light touch, which is far less ticklish than people expect. Tell your therapist and they will start firmer.
