Glass or silicone cups are applied to the skin to create gentle suction, and either left in place or glided across the muscle. It is a traditional technique with a long history in Chinese practice.
Cupping commonly leaves circular marks that fade over several days — this is expected and is not bruising in the usual sense. Tell your therapist if you bruise easily, take blood thinners, or are pregnant.
